Chinese guests make no exceptions when it comes to eating: they like their own food most of all, but they are intrigued by “exotic” tastes and delicacies. New culinary experiences is a topic they will talk about once they get back home, debating about the merits of various restaurants they visited and starting conversations, both online and with relatives and friends.
Welcome Chinese reached a deal with Ctrip, the biggest and most influential online travel agency in China. The final agreement contains two different options in order to get listed on the Ctrip’s website and app, in a new dedicated section called Ctrip Preferred.
1 – If you already are certified tourism business, like the case of a hotel, you can have your restaurant listed on Ctrip website and app free of charge. It is a just a new benefit included in the Welcome Chinese certification. The restaurant will be well ranked among search results. The restaurant needs to guarantee a Wi-Fi connection, the possibility to pay with UnionPay credit card and - not mandatory but strongly suggested - welcome drink offered to Chinese visitors.
2 – In order to shine a spotlight on distinguished restaurants, even if they are stand-alone, Welcome Chinese is about to launch a new class of the certification. Thanks to this, all restaurants that guarantee the three above mentioned services will be able to submit a request to be certified. Furthermore, ALL restaurants will be eligible to upgrade for two additional services:
• Translation of the menu in Mandarin
• A sticker with the QR code will be sent to the restaurant. With it on the menu, your Chinese customers will be able to check the list of dishes in Mandarin from their own devices
We at the Candlewood Suites Calgary Airport North, closely located to the Calgary airport YYC, have been certified by the China Tourism Academy as having reached the JADE STANDARD of "Welcome Chinese" Certification. As such we greet each guest with a special Welcome envelope with Chinese information on our extended stay hotel. Guests receive slippers, tea, and have access to kettles and rice cookers at no charge. Some items are available in our little convenience store called The Cupboard, and there is a Chinese Super Market about 2 kilometers away which has a full selection of food items, commonly found in China, including live fish. Also at the same shopping area, an authentic Chinese Restaurant called The T. Pot , China Bistro From our location we have easy access to main highways to take you to Banff National Park, or the Royal Tyrrell Museum, an excellent Dinosaur museum. Candlewood Suites is an excellent location with cooking facilities which provides a great home base as you travel to various attractions in the area.
