The World Travel Fair, held at the Shanghai Exhibition Center on May 9th-11th, was the first event with the presence of Welcome Chinese as a B2C exhibitor. It represented a step forward for the final consumer, opening the way to an exchange of views through direct contact between travelers and suppliers. The event represented one of the crucial stages in the agenda of travel fairs committed to promoting Chinese outbound tourism, already the most profitable in the world with €80,2 billion spent in 2013.

Talks and interviews with Jacopo Sertoli, Welcome Chinese president, at WTF 2014 in Shanghai A WEEKEND IN NUMBERS - The fair marked a growth, even in comparison to the highly successful 2013 edition. This time onsite retail sales generated ¥18 million (€2,1 million), +33,3% over the previous year. The public flocked in with 38,300 entrances registered. In addition to them, nearly 8,000 buyers met hundreds of representative from national boards and tourism companies.

MORE THAN REPRESENTATION - Partner hotels were actively promoted with panels and logos and, when provided by the hotels, with informative brochures in Mandarin. Welcome Chinese got considerable acknowledgement from the press with services and interviews given to influential national media. This is the case of the service in both English and Chinese produced by CCTV, China’s State television that is also popular among Chinese who live abroad. The story was then reported by the travel magazine, Travel World China, the technology pictorial, Pc Home, the local newspaper, Shanghai Daily and many more publications, mostly those focused on travel.

We at the Candlewood Suites Calgary Airport North, closely located to the Calgary airport YYC, have been certified by the China Tourism Academy as having reached the JADE STANDARD of "Welcome Chinese" Certification. As such we greet each guest with a special Welcome envelope with Chinese information on our extended stay hotel. Guests receive slippers, tea, and have access to kettles and rice cookers at no charge. Some items are available in our little convenience store called The Cupboard, and there is a Chinese Super Market about 2 kilometers away which has a full selection of food items, commonly found in China, including live fish. Also at the same shopping area, an authentic Chinese Restaurant called The T. Pot , China Bistro From our location we have easy access to main highways to take you to Banff National Park, or the Royal Tyrrell Museum, an excellent Dinosaur museum. Candlewood Suites is an excellent location with cooking facilities which provides a great home base as you travel to various attractions in the area.
