World Travel Fair (WTF) 2014 in Shanghai is the first B2C Chinese tourism fair that will be attended by Welcome Chinese, the new standard recognized by the China Tourism Authority (CTA) aimed at upgrading services dedicated to Chinese travelers. WTF will be held at the Shanghai Exhibition Center from the 9th to the 11th of May. Attendance for the 2013 edition saw 55 countries participating with their tourism boards, plus 550 companies and more than 7,600 buyers. Public visitors were more than 38,000. The onsite retail generated ¥13,5 million (€1,6 million). Among buyers, 69% were Chinese outbound tour operators. WTF is a unique opportunity for the global travel trade to meet, network, negotiate and conduct business, with an effective platform for consumer marketing. In the meanwhile, the presence of the public encourages companies to interact with consumers, thus improving brand awareness and onsite reservations. Widely accepted forecasts see 200 million Chinese travelers by 2020. It is also expected that the country will overtake the US to become the world's largest tourism economy by 2023. Online booking, luxury travel and the role of islands will be the focus of the 2014 edition of WTF. For the first time, Welcome Chinese will be able to present and promote its partner hotels directly to single Chinese customers. Tourism businesses are certified Bronze, Silver or Gold level, according to the number of services provided to Chinese travelers.

We at the Candlewood Suites Calgary Airport North, closely located to the Calgary airport YYC, have been certified by the China Tourism Academy as having reached the JADE STANDARD of "Welcome Chinese" Certification. As such we greet each guest with a special Welcome envelope with Chinese information on our extended stay hotel. Guests receive slippers, tea, and have access to kettles and rice cookers at no charge. Some items are available in our little convenience store called The Cupboard, and there is a Chinese Super Market about 2 kilometers away which has a full selection of food items, commonly found in China, including live fish. Also at the same shopping area, an authentic Chinese Restaurant called The T. Pot , China Bistro From our location we have easy access to main highways to take you to Banff National Park, or the Royal Tyrrell Museum, an excellent Dinosaur museum. Candlewood Suites is an excellent location with cooking facilities which provides a great home base as you travel to various attractions in the area.
