On Thursday, June 26th Welcome Chinese was presented in front of a non-Chinese audience for the first time. “The growing flow of Chinese outbound tourists,” said the company’s president, Jacopo Sertoli, in a crowded press conference in Rome, “pushes the market to focus on their needs. This is an opportunity both for tourism businesses and tourism boards.” The event saw the participation of some of the mainstream Italian media: La Stampa, Il Sole 24 Ore, La Repubblica, QN, Italia Oggi, Il Tempo, Ansa, Agi China, Class CNBC and others, not to mention key Chinese media such as the news agency Xinhua, the People’s Daily and CCTV.

The award ceremony of Antonello Perricone, CEO of the rail company NTV NOT JUST HOTELS - The event was attended by more than 100 people, among them journalists and industry representatives who gathered in the prestigious Sala Stampa Estera, the headquarters of the Association of the Foreign Press in Italy. The day was concluded by a ceremony in which Antonello Perricone, CEO of the rail company NTV, and Lorenzo Lo Presti, CEO of Airports of Rome (ADR) were awarded the Welcome Chinese Certification. It is the first time that a rail company or an airport – the Leonardo Da Vinci-Fiumicino hub in Rome – got the award after introducing services aimed at Chinese travelers. As Bin Dai, president of the China Tourism Academy (CTA) pointed out, “scarce public signage in Mandarin, foreign food and lack of reference points are still the main sources of concern for Chinese tourists”.

The Certification is given to Lorenzo Lo Presti, CEO of Airports of Rome (ADR) THE ONLY CERTIFICATION PROVIDER - A business protocol was signed between Welcome Chinese and Federalberghi, the Italian hotel association. On the occasion, the Shanghai-based company reaffirmed itself as the only standard recognized by Chinese authorities for the certification of tourism services aimed at Mandarin-speaking travelers. The speaker’s panel saw the participation of Bernabò Bocca, President of Federalberghi, Andrea Babbi, General Director of the Italian Tourist Board, Giampaolo Letta, Deputy President of the trade organization, Unindustria and Li Ruiyu, Chinese Ambassador to Italy, among others. By the end of 2014, CTA recently forecast that 115 million tourists are expected to have traveled outside China, the biggest number in history by far.

We at the Candlewood Suites Calgary Airport North, closely located to the Calgary airport YYC, have been certified by the China Tourism Academy as having reached the JADE STANDARD of "Welcome Chinese" Certification. As such we greet each guest with a special Welcome envelope with Chinese information on our extended stay hotel. Guests receive slippers, tea, and have access to kettles and rice cookers at no charge. Some items are available in our little convenience store called The Cupboard, and there is a Chinese Super Market about 2 kilometers away which has a full selection of food items, commonly found in China, including live fish. Also at the same shopping area, an authentic Chinese Restaurant called The T. Pot , China Bistro From our location we have easy access to main highways to take you to Banff National Park, or the Royal Tyrrell Museum, an excellent Dinosaur museum. Candlewood Suites is an excellent location with cooking facilities which provides a great home base as you travel to various attractions in the area.
