High levels of satisfaction were expressed by Chinese tourists travelling abroad and, also important to note, Canada rules the chart. These are the conclusions of the “Survey Report on Chinese Outbound Tourist Satisfaction in the Third Quarter of 2013”, covering July, August and September and published by the China Tourism Academy (CTA). Upon being interviewed, tourists that went abroad said they feel very satisfied about what they see and do in foreign countries, but they are quite bothered about language and cultural barriers. The survey took into consideration 22 travel destinations outside China and only 14 of them reached the satisfactory level. This is set by CTA at 80.0. Countries showing the best performance in welcoming Chinese tourists, the study says, are Canada, Singapore and Australia, all of whom rated above 82.0. Ottawa scored 82,91. Japan, France, USA, Great Britain, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea also had high rankings, while Italy, South Africa and most of southeast Asia fell below the line. According to the survey, the most recent general satisfaction data is just below 80.0, at 79,63. Second quarter’s data was set at 80.24. The index is based on seven separate categories, each with its own rating ranging from 1 to 100: scenic areas and sports, shopping, accommodations, transportation, culture and entertainment, food and beverage and services provided by travel agencies. Accordingly to these numbers, the latter seems to be a weak point with a rating of 78.5. In more, Chinese visitors seem to be highly satisfied with urban landscapes, green and natural areas and air quality, but also with discovering local traditions and customs. All of these elements show scores well above 80.0 on CTA’s chart. The same could be said about airport services and bank accessibility for Chinese credit cards. Satisfaction with online booking systems is also high and the percentage of those who have complaints in general has decreased from 14.3% to 12.2%. Negative comments regarded poor knowledge of Chinese and the lack of public signs in Mandarin, as well as travel agency and guide services that need to be improved. Another common complaint, and one that is not new, concerns local food to which Chinese tourists are not accustomed. Even if there are no authentic Chinese delicacies, hot water, Chinese tea, chopsticks and other Chinese life articles provided in foreign destinations could improve Chinese tourists’ experiences while traveling aboard.

We at the Candlewood Suites Calgary Airport North, closely located to the Calgary airport YYC, have been certified by the China Tourism Academy as having reached the JADE STANDARD of “Welcome Chinese” Certification.

As such we greet each guest with a special Welcome envelope with Chinese information on our extended stay hotel. Guests receive slippers, tea, and have access to kettles and rice cookers at no charge. Some items are available in our little convenience store called The Cupboard, and there is a Chinese Super Market about 2 kilometers away which has a full selection of food items, commonly found in China, including live fish. Also at the same shopping area, an authentic Chinese Restaurant called The T. Pot , China Bistro
From our location we have easy access to main highways to take you to Banff National Park, or the Royal Tyrrell Museum, an excellent Dinosaur museum.
Candlewood Suites is an excellent location with cooking facilities which provides a great home base as you travel to various attractions in the area.
