Eight months after its official presentation, Welcome Chinese is about to make its debut in front of the international press. The day is Thursday, June 26th, in a prestigious location in the heart of Rome.

NOT JUST FOR HOTELS - “A New Hospitality Standard for the International Travel Market,” as well as being the title, is the concept behind the foundation of Welcome Chinese: it is the only certification recognized by Chinese authorities, and it rewards tourism businesses that guarantee services tailored to the Mandarin-speaking traveler. “It mustn’t be forgotten that not only hotels can be certified,” said Jacopo Sertoli, Welcome Chinese president, in a recent statement. “Any tourism business willing to host Chinese travelers can join the program. This includes transportation hubs like airports and train stations, museums and eventually, restaurants and shops.” The Welcome Chinese project aims to harmonize international standards in greeting these guests.

RECORD NUMBERS - The Chinese outbound tourism market is n°1 in the world, both for the amount of people on the road and for total spending. The previous year signaled an 18% growth over 2012, with 98 million people traveling, while expenditures rose 23% to €94,5 billion. Welcome Chinese was founded in October 2013 in Beijing; since then, major public appearances have taken place in front of the Chinese tourism industry, but never outside the borders of China.

The speaker’s panel will see the attendance of Dai Bin, head of the China Tourism Academy; Bernabò Bocca, president of the Italian hotel association, Federalberghi; Andrea Babbi, president of the Italian Tourism Board, and Vincenzo De Luca, general director of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Thursday, June 26th, via dell’Umiltà 83C, Sala stampa estera, 11am.

We at the Candlewood Suites Calgary Airport North, closely located to the Calgary airport YYC, have been certified by the China Tourism Academy as having reached the JADE STANDARD of "Welcome Chinese" Certification. As such we greet each guest with a special Welcome envelope with Chinese information on our extended stay hotel. Guests receive slippers, tea, and have access to kettles and rice cookers at no charge. Some items are available in our little convenience store called The Cupboard, and there is a Chinese Super Market about 2 kilometers away which has a full selection of food items, commonly found in China, including live fish. Also at the same shopping area, an authentic Chinese Restaurant called The T. Pot , China Bistro From our location we have easy access to main highways to take you to Banff National Park, or the Royal Tyrrell Museum, an excellent Dinosaur museum. Candlewood Suites is an excellent location with cooking facilities which provides a great home base as you travel to various attractions in the area.
