Starting in January, Welcome Chinese will inaugurate a brand new alliance with Qunar, a leading online travel agency in China that merged with the giant Ctrip back in 2015. The Ctrip-Qunar union created the third top player in the OTA sector worldwide, together with Expedia and Priceline.

THE CORE OF THE DEAL – All the certified partners will be listed in Qunar’s website on the basis of the info they have delivered to Welcome Chinese. In particular, hotels and restaurants will have a dedicated page, displayed both on desktop computers and on Qunar’s app for mobiles. Going even further, a dedicated Welcome Chinese page will be displayed and highlighted on the website, in order to expand the awareness of the brand and its member partners. The cost of an advertisement on Qunar, usually priced at an average €40,000 per day, will be free for our partners.

A MATTER OF APPS - Founded in 2005, Qunar gained its first wave of worldwide popularity thanks to huge investments from Baidu, the most popular web browser in China. Today, Qunar and Ctrip have the two most downloaded travel apps on the Chinese mainland that, as a whole reach more than 600 million users.

NUMBERS OF QUNAR - Total revenues of Qunar for the second quarter of 2016 were €108,4 million (+17% year-on-year), with gross profit growing to €108,4 million an increase of 20.7% in the same period. The company's success lies in booking through mobile devices; in fact, revenues from this segment of the business equaled €109,6 million, (+29% year-on-year), representing 75.1% of total revenues.

We at the Candlewood Suites Calgary Airport North, closely located to the Calgary airport YYC, have been certified by the China Tourism Academy as having reached the JADE STANDARD of "Welcome Chinese" Certification. As such we greet each guest with a special Welcome envelope with Chinese information on our extended stay hotel. Guests receive slippers, tea, and have access to kettles and rice cookers at no charge. Some items are available in our little convenience store called The Cupboard, and there is a Chinese Super Market about 2 kilometers away which has a full selection of food items, commonly found in China, including live fish. Also at the same shopping area, an authentic Chinese Restaurant called The T. Pot , China Bistro From our location we have easy access to main highways to take you to Banff National Park, or the Royal Tyrrell Museum, an excellent Dinosaur museum. Candlewood Suites is an excellent location with cooking facilities which provides a great home base as you travel to various attractions in the area.
